Empowering Africa’s Healthcare Future: Insights from the IQVIA Africa Health Summit
On the 11th and 12th of October, two of our colleagues had the privilege of attending the Africa Health Summit organized by IQVIA. This gathering brought together a diverse community of clinical research and public health experts, all dedicated to transforming the healthcare landscape in Africa.
The summit highlighted critical issues, and one point that resonated deeply with us was the urgent need for more clinical trials on the continent. As Honorable Dr. Michel Sidibé, African Union Special Envoy for the African Medical Agency, rightly asked, “Are we going to watch from the sideline or take the lead?”
The focus was clear: how can we alleviate the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases in Africa and establish health security through robust systems that ensure equitable access to healthcare for all?
At Afri-Onc, we firmly believe that we can play a pivotal role in achieving these goals. We’re committed to increasing access to affordable and free treatment options for cancer patients, and we’re dedicated to enhancing both the registration process and the clinical trial landscape in Africa.
While discussions at the summit revealed that there is still a long road ahead, we are resolute in our determination for success. Together, we can make a difference. Let’s lead the way towards a healthier, more resilient Africa. Thank you again IQVIA, for making this all possible.
